A few weeks ago I was assigned to write a little story about Will and Kate (the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) in Los Angeles. It turned out to be a story about the last royal editor of The News of the World, who filed his final bit of copy from here, as the paper collapsed under the weight of the hacking scandal.
