I am woefully behind! To catch up: I had a piece in The New Yorker about a couple of Hollywood therapists who have adapted Jung's idea of the shadow, and are using it to treat writer's block, pitch-related panic, and other maladies particular to creative people in the entertainment industry. Here's that story. (If you read it on the iPad, you will see strange hand-drawn diagrams, versions of which are stashed in wallets and car visors all over this town.) The therapists were on KCRW's The Business with Kim Masters a few weeks ago. Listen here. Then I wrote about Ed Ruscha moving out of his longtime studio in Venice. Voilà. And finally, one of my poems is on the Daily Beast, for National Poetry Month. You can read it, and the accompanying essay written by my dear friend Eliza Griswold, here. O.K. that's it for now. I am going to New York for about thirty seconds to do some reporting and then back to L.A. for the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. See my calendar for details.
